Banks
Cyprus benefits from a banking system that is modelled on the one in the UK, with similar banking practices and service levels. There are a number of major banks in Cyprus as well as local banks and international banks, such as Barclays and HSBC, having branches in Cyprus. Nearly all the banks (as do the population) speak English.
As with the UK there are numerous ATM machines for drawing out currency while you stay in Cyprus.
Recently the banks in Cyprus have expanded their services to offer insurance, leasing, hire purchase finance, investment and consulting. They’ve also taken advantage of new technologies to offer telephone and internet banking services.
The opening Hours are usually from 8.15am to 1pm Mondays to Fridays and from 3.15 to 4.45pm on Monday afternoons only. Most of the branches in tourist areas offer an afternoon service on Tuesdays to Fridays from 3.30 or 4 until 6.30pm - The International banks are open from 8.30am to 5.30pm.
